Diamond Head Crater
When British sailors passed by the island in the 1800s, they saw a distant glitter in the distance that they thought were diamonds. While what they saw were really calcite crystals in the lava rocks, the name they gave the crater stuck. This massive crater is one of the most imposing and stunning things to see on the Hawaiian islands and is a must see for any visitor.

Narrative
When British sailors passed by O’ahu in the early 1800s, they saw a strange glitter coming from the island. What they saw was calcite crystals in the lava rock reflecting sunlight, but not knowing this, they believed they saw diamonds. The name stuck. Diamond Head Crater is a massive 3,500 foot diameter extinct volcano that is one of O’ahu’s most popular and impressive natural wonders. Get to see it without having to worry about transportation, and more importantly parking, with our convenient and reliable shuttle service. The hiking path to see this incredible crater is 1.6 miles long round trip and is relatively moderate in difficulty, making it approachable to start, and the views are very worth it.
Do keep in mind that the path does end in some steep stairs that are more difficult than the path leading to them, but persevere and you get one of the most stunning vistas on the Hawaiian islands. Keep hydrated! We will give you one complimentary bottle of water for the trip, and there are drinking fountains, as well as bathrooms, at the start of the path but not after you have started. Bring some sun protection and be sure to have fun and take pictures. When you are done, we will return you to your accommodation so you can rest up after your hike.
